The clamshell box, or more traditionally known as, the ’Solander Box’ it was and still is used to keep antiquarian books safe, but it’s two trays that fold in each other can be used for many other applications.

Our luxury individually hand crafted custom clamshell boxes are made bespoke to your specification and are made using traditional bindery methods. Techniques like double thick walls step jointed and glued are not widely done, but offer you the strongest trays possible. Inset inner covers allow for the tray to nestle into the opposite cover. All small, but important details that highlight H&Co quality.

Each order starts with making your box from scratch (nothing we do is off the shelf). Each board is cut to perfectly fit the contents you want to put inside it. We offer you International as well as U.S paper sizes, but should you require it, bespoke sizes as well.

You have a wide range of cover material options from book cloth and hard waring buckram to luxury leathers and an even wider palate of colours therefore allowing you to find the perfect colour combination.

Lastly and should you require it, is the ability to personalise your clamshell box This can be done with a single line of text on the cover, or your logo stamped into it, to having full colour logos, text or images digitally inkjet UV printed onto the entire cover.
