Consisting of a single piece of 3.5mm thick, Italian veg tanned leather that has been tumble finished to give it softness and texture. To this is attached a back board covered in book cloth and a hinged screw and post mechanism. Add text and a logo and you have an outstanding personalised luxury presentation book, guest book or album.

Product Description

This binder is hand cut out of our signature 3.5mm veg tanned leather, a ’top grain’ leather hide (which means you get the actual surface of the hide), that is tumbled finished. The tumbling process happens after the hide has been coloured. This breaks it down making it softer but giving it more texture and wrinkles. As it’s natural, some areas break down more than others, so texture is totally indiscriminate.

We then attach a back board and a screw post mechanism that is hinged so that it swings at 90 degrees to suit how the portfolio or book is being viewed. The back board and screw post cover is covered in either book cloth, buckram or faux leather which offers a multitude of colour variations.

Screw post binders work like a bound book with one edge firmly attached at the side. We can offer a variety of lengths of posts depending on the volume of contents you want included.

Lastly and should you require it, is the ability to personalise your portfolio binder. This can be done with a single line of text on the cover, or your logo stamped into it. Veg tan leather takes embossing exceptionally well whether it is blind debossed or foiled.

A number of these portfolio books appear on our website with an inner cover on the open facing side. We do not offer this as standard in case the cover starts to come away from the leather at the edge. If the portfolio is only for light use it might be possible to include this upon request.

Sizes

How sizes work: All of our products are bespoke and designed to fit exactly the contents that they are going contain. (The size in the description refers to the size of their contents not the cover size.)
Each screw post binder is sized so that the contents sit perfectly on the inner cover. We then add approximately 8mm to the top, bottom and side for the overall cover size.
If your portfolio is going to contain only paper (not plastic page protectors or tabbed dividers) then the cover will be sized around the size of the paper of the product size you choose.
If you tell us in the options that you will be using page protectors, then we will make the covers slightly larger to accommodate the larger size of the page protector.
If you will be using page protectors as well as tabbed dividers with tabs extending beyond the plastic page protector pocket, then we will make the cover larger again to accommodate this. If for instance you decide at a latter date having received your binder to go from paper only to plastic page protector pockets, then these might protrude beyond the outer cover.

Custom sizes: As everything is individually hand made, we are able to make custom sizes. You would have to contact us directly to order this, however for an approximate idea on prices, please select the nearest sizes in our options.

Delivery information

Lead times : Our lead times vary depending upon demand and also the complexity of each order. A wide sweeping though not always accurate estimate is that non personalised orders can be turned around from roughly 2 weeks between ordering and dispatch and personalised ones 3 - 4 weeks. For a more accurate and current lead time, please contact us directly.

How will I know when my order is being made? : Once you place your order you will receive a confirmation order from us, at the bottom of that will be the production week we will be making your order in. Expect your order to be dispatched towards the end of that week.

Once it is dispatched, how does it get to me? : We use a courier company (Fedex or DHL) and we use their fastest service. Once your order has been collected from H&Co, you’ll receive an email with a tracking number as well as updates on the progress of your delivery.

This information can either be the number of pages, or plastic pockets you'll be inserting, (for instance 30 page protectors) or by simply by measuring what you have. We would not normally recommend posts longer than 40mm or 1 3/4 inches
