Experienced Box & Portfolio and Case Maker

The Job:
We are seeking a highly experienced individual who has worked as a Bookbinder and has experience and skills in making handmade clamshell boxes, lidded boxes, slipcases. Also screw post portfolios, binders as well as being able to work with leather and be very good at foil blocking.
Your job will include making bespoke orders by hand from scratch (accurately measuring and cutting grey board on our board chopper). Covering in either buckram, book cloth or leather with seamless joints and then personalising the order with a blind deboss or foil on one of our two hand blockers.
Other areas of the job include responding with solutions to the eternal customers statement of “I’d like something that does…” We’re therefore looking for someone experienced and immediately capable of making to our standards and even more so, adding to what we can already do.

Essential Skills

All the attributes of being very good at your profession, which would be:

• Experience in working in Bindery
• Attention to detail.
• Meticulously high standards.
• Ability to create boxes using laminated grey board and step joints
• Leather craft.
• Foil blocking.
