Bespoke Leather Zip Up Portfolio Case

An exact brief from a customer, for a bespoke leather portfolio binder, that has been completely hand stitched and features a 3 ring 5cm binder mechanism. A secure metal zip with a debossed coat of arms in the bottom right hand corner.

Our client and his family, travel a great deal. He required a portfolio case that could keep all his, documents, cards, keys and general very-important-stuff in, as they moved between their various residencies in either the United States or Europe.

Previous incarnations of a travel file or travel wallet had proved wanting in certain areas. Apparently they were generally not up to the job and despite his best efforts he had yet to find anything that suited his exact requirements.

The portfolio had to be in an US size format (8.5" x 11") and hold a particular plastic wallet . It had to hold a large volume (2" three ring binder). It couldn't fly open and had to be secure (good quality zipper). Ideally it was to be in a good quality leather (Italian veg tanned full grain leather) and as an extra touch to mark it as belonging to a particular household and family, it should be personalised, (discreetly blind debossed in the bottom right had corner). 

Admittedly, he didn't personally request hand stitching, but the quality had to be perfect and we have yet to find and machine that we can either trust or doesn't leave a mark, so a hand made portfolio HAD to be hand stitched. The customer choose the inner fabric from our swatch books and the rest was up to Jackie (Hartnack) to complete.

The portfolio was delivered in the Autumn of 2018 and so far as we are aware, travels very well!
