A hidden screw post 11" x 17' portfolio book for Canadian photographer Anthony Redpath. The cover was in pewter buckram. The personalisation was a combination of UV printing which we did for the yellow aspect of the cover and the foil stamping which we did for the name.
We build the slipcase around the portfolio book but only once its made. This is to ensure that we get the slipcase to exactly the right size. The walls are all double bonded grey board that are stepped at each end. The steps are glued and then interlock into each other which ensures the slipcase is robust. Everything is lined in paper and then fabric, which is part of the Hartnack & Co philosophy of quality boxes. In this case the interior of the slipcase was lined in plate book cloth.
Just like the portfolio cover, the slipcase was UV printed on the outside with the names foiled stamped in sliver and grey foil.
The tricky bit came when trying to achieve the proper and specified colour of yellow. despite lots of emails on the correct colour the only way to ensure we were reading of the same sheet was to get a colour sample over from Canada.
At our printers the sample was placed against a Pantone colour wall and even then it wasn't straight forward, as the yellow could have been a number of options! Lastly to match the colour the printer head had to make 9 passes over the portfolio cover and slipcase material until it hit the desired yellow (not a straight forward job)
We have a page dedicated to Portfolios which can be found HERE and our image gallery on our past work for Creatives can be found HERE
